Biography:

Paula Gardner, PhD, is Asper Chair in Communications in the Faculty of Communication Studies and Multimedia, at McMaster University, where she directs Pulse Lab. Gardner’s multimedia practice and scholarship binds feminism to human computer interaction, media studies, and science and technology studies.  Her current work includes the McMaster (MIRA funded) ABLE project, creating an app that that transforms rehabilitation therapy into interactive art and game experiences for seniors with fragility and dementia.  Gardner’s work is published in Communication, STS and HCI journals; she is currently writing a book entitled Pace, the Affective Labour of Activity Trackers and a documentary film entitled No Asylum.
